Hi,

I have been with my boyfriend for two years. We are very much in love and we are thinking of getting married. We enjoy pornography together and we have a good sex life.

Recently, we have a conversation about masturbation and he told me occasionally he thinks about other girls when he masturbates himself (without me). Those girls are either random girls or girls he knew from the past who are pretty etc. He even thinks about having sex with them, although that he claims is not common.

My questions are:

1) I know guys are visual but is it common for them to think about other girls during masturbation even when they are attached to someone?

2) If it is not normal, then what does it imply?

3) Is it a sign a infidelity?

4) Should I be bothered with it and confront him?

I appreciate if you can get back to me. Thanks.

cheers,

apple

Dear Apple--

Unlike many of the letters I receive, the answers to your straightforward questions are short and simple:

1) Yes.

2) It is normal, and implies that the male brain has developed (via natural selection over countless millennia) a powerful programming to scatter its DNA widely.

3) No.

4) No.

Enjoy your good sex, and let your man fantasize as much as he likes (as long as he keeps it to fantasy).

Be well.
